Central defender Gareth McAuley has been named in the Northern Ireland squad for friendlies against Turkey and Chile later this month. McAuley has previously won 20 caps at full level, scoring one goal.

Murphy, whose spell comes to an end after Sunday's game, has a thigh strain with Keane unlikely to take a chance on the Sunderland man if he is in any doubt regarding his fitness.

The Town manager says he deals with chief executive Simon Clegg on a regular basis, while meetings with Evans are rarer occurrences.

A last gasp Chris Morgan goal denied Town a deserved first win of the season and took them to the bottom of the Championship as Sheffield United came from two behind to draw 3-3 at Bramall Lane. The Blades had gone ahead through a controversial Darius Henderson goal but the Blues struck back through Jon Walters, Grant Leadbitter and Gareth McAuley, before Henderson pulled one back and Morgan equalised.

Boss Roy Keane says Town have two loan targets they are hoping to bring to the club before Saturday’s game at Barnsley. Keane is understood to have been involved in a meeting at the club yesterday which presumably also included owner Marcus Evans, who attended Saturday’s game against Newcastle.
